Day 1
Day 1: Arrive in Mineralnye Vody Airport

Arrival day. group transfer from Mineralnye Vody Airport (MRV) to Terskol, accommodation at the hotel, welcome briefing and orientation, signing waivers and required documentation, gear check and dinner.

Day 2
Day 2: Cheget Peak (9,842)

Breakfast, acclimatization hike to Cheget peak (9,842ft-10,170ft) will take about 5 hours to hike, you will get your lunch box and enjoy a panoramic view of the Baksan valley and the twin summits of Mt Elbrus. Ascent of Mt Cheget and then return to the hotel where you’ll have dinner and spend the night.

Day 3
Day 3: Acclimatisation day (10,170ft)

After breakfast you will hike up to the observatory (10,170ft), then to the Devichi Kosy waterfall where you’ll have lunch. Return to the hotel, dinner and rest.

Day 4
Day 4: Acclimatization Hike to the Refuge "Priutt" (12,467ft)

After breakfast you will go to a rental place to get the gear needed then take two trams and a chairlift up to the Garabashi lift station (12,467ft). Check into the Mountain hut. According to the situation you might go for hike to where Priutt 11 Refuge was situated. Lunch, meet with the chef and go over the menu, free time, dinner and rest.

Day 5
Day 5: Acclimatization day to Pastukhov rocks (15,420ft)

Early morning breakfast, acclimatization hike to Pastukhov rocks(15,420ft) or higher (according to the situation and how everybody feels) here on the slopes of Elbrus a panorama of the Central Caucasus spreads out. Return to the refuge, lunch, time off, dinner and rest.

Day 6
Day 6: Skills refresher and rest day

Rest day. Snow & Ice training with basic level self-arrest course. This is to prepare for your big summit day. Maybe a walk to the cafe(12,467ft). Dinner and go to bed yearly.

Day 7
Day 7: Summit day

Today is the big day! An early start of 1am – 2am will follow an 8 hour ascent of Mt Elbrus. It is time to put all your skills into practice as you scale Europe’s highest peak! The day will end with a 4 – 6 hour hike back to the refuge or (according to the situation) all the way back to the hotel in Terskol,

Day 8
Day 8: Departure Day

Breakfast, going down to Azau, celebration lunch, transfer to the airport, or if planed, spend one or two more days in Terskol before transferring to Mineralnye Vody Airport (MRV).

What fitness level do I need?

Mt Elbrus is a very demanding hike, so you need to have a great level of fitness. We recommend you train with intensive sport/running at least 2-3x a week in the 2 months before your trip. We also recommend taking a few long training hikes.

What equipment do I need?

You will need clothing suitable to 0 degree F and appropriate mountaineering equipment (Crampons, Ice Axe, double-layered mountaineering boots etc. You can rent these in Russia if needed. A full kit list is provided within the course PDF.

How old do I need to be?

Age limit — not less than 18 years old, and not older than 55 years old

What are the visa requirements?

To enter Russia for any purpose, a U.S. citizen must possess a valid U.S. passport and a visa issued by a Russian Embassy or Consulate. It is impossible to obtain an entry visa upon arrival, so travelers must apply for their visas well in advance.

Do I have the required skills?

It’s preferable for you to have some experience walking in crampons and using a hiking axe. You will, however, have one refresher day.

What time do we start/finish?

You will meet no later than 1 pm at the airport, on day 1 of your itinerary. You will arrive back at the airport by 2 pm, on day 8 of your itinerary.
